If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re already closer than you think.

Maybe you haven’t filled out the inquiry form yet. Maybe you’re still circling the idea.
But something in you knows you don’t want to keep doing this alone. This post breaks down what happens when you work with a career coach, step by step, so you know exactly what to expect.
So instead of convincing you to work with a career coach, let’s skip ahead.
No mystery.
No vague promises.
No “we’ll figure it out later” energy.
What Happens When You Work With a Career Coach (Step by Step)
Let’s assume you’ve decided you’re done guessing and ready for support that actually fits your life.
Here’s how it unfolds.
Step 1: You Fill Out the Inquiry Form
Working with a career coach starts with context, not pressure.
On my website, you’ll fill out an inquiry form where you share:
- your current role
- what feels off, unsustainable, or heavy
- what you want more of (income, flexibility, growth, breathing room)
- whether you’re job searching, pivoting, or going for a promotion
You’re not expected to have everything figured out.
This form exists so I understand your situation before we talk — which means you don’t spend the call explaining your entire career from scratch.
This is where most people already feel a little lighter.
Step 2: You Review Pricing + Book Your Discovery Call
After submitting the form, you’ll land on a page where you:
- review my pricing (fully transparent)
- book a discovery call at a time that works for you
Nothing is hidden.
Nothing is saved for later.
If you’re here, you already know the investment — and that’s intentional. It keeps the conversation focused on fit, not surprises.
Step 3: Light Prep (So You Don’t Freeze or Ramble)
Before the call, you’ll receive:
- calendar reminders
- 1–2 short reflection questions
These aren’t homework.
They’re anchors.
They help you come into the call grounded — even if you’re still unsure what your next move is.
For many people, uncertainty about what happens when you work with a career coach is the biggest reason they stay stuck longer than they need to.
Step 4: The Discovery Call (This Is Where Things Click)
This is usually where people exhale.
Not because everything is suddenly solved — but because they realize they don’t have to solve it alone.
On this call:
- you walk me through what’s happening in your career right now
- we name the patterns keeping you stuck (burnout, under-earning, over-functioning, being overlooked)
- I explain how I would approach your job search, pivot, or promotion
- we talk through which level of support makes the most sense:
- a 90-minute intensive
- 6 weeks of coaching
- or 12 weeks of coaching
By the time you’re on this call, you’ve already:
- seen the pricing
- thought about your readiness for support
- decided you don’t want to keep carrying this alone
So this isn’t a convincing call.
It’s a decision-making conversation.
Clients often say:
- “This was the first time my career actually made sense.”
- “I finally understood what kind of support I needed.”
- “I stopped spiraling because I had a plan.”
If I’m not the right coach for you, I’ll tell you.
If I am, we’ll name the next step clearly.
Step 5: You Receive a Clear Follow-Up + Proposal
If we decide together that moving forward makes sense, you’ll receive a follow-up email that includes:
- a custom proposal reflecting what we already discussed
- the option you chose (intensive, 6 weeks, or 12 weeks)
- timelines, logistics, and next steps
Nothing new appears here.
Nothing changes.
The proposal simply makes it official.
Once you accept it, you complete checkout, sign your contract, and we’re officially working together.
Step 6: Onboarding + Kickoff
Once the paperwork is done, this is where the real experience begins.
You’ll receive:
- a welcome email
- a detailed intake questionnaire (this is where I really get to know you)
- access to your coaching hub
- the ability to choose your weekly coaching time (for 6 or 12 weeks)
On our kickoff call, we:
- align on priorities
- map your strategy
- set expectations for how we’ll work together
This is where working with a career coach starts to feel grounding instead of overwhelming.
How Working With Me as Your Career Coach Is Different
I don’t look at your career in isolation.
We look at:
- your role and industry
- your income goals
- your energy and nervous system
- your real-life constraints
- your long-term direction
That’s why my clients don’t just land new jobs.
They land roles that actually fit.
Our work together includes:
- résumé and LinkedIn strategy
- job search or promotion planning
- interview preparation
- negotiation support
- confidence built through evidence, not hype
This is coaching and execution.
BTW: Recruiters actively use LinkedIn to source, vet, and evaluate candidates, which is why understanding what happens when you work with a career coach matters so much right now. Check out this LinkedIn blog post.
What You Walk Away With
By the end of our work together, you’ll have:
- all tools and documents organized in a Notion dashboard
- clarity on next steps
- momentum that doesn’t disappear after one good week
And yes — we celebrate wins as they happen.
